We do not collect any health or sensitive personal data unless explicitly entered by the user for summarization purposes. Such data is processed temporarily and not stored.

b. Automatically Collected Information

When you use the app, we may collect:

  • Device data: model, OS version, language, etc.

  • App usage data: screens viewed, session time, feature usage

  • Crash reports & diagnostics: via Firebase Crashlytics

  • Advertising ID: if applicable (only if ads are used)

This data helps us improve app performance, fix bugs, and understand user behavior.

c. Scanned Content

Scanned documents, text, or images are processed temporarily using AI to generate summaries or interpretations.
Unless explicitly saved by the user, no scanned data is retained or uploaded to our servers.
 

2. How We Use Your Information
 

We use the information we collect to:

  • Enable core app functionality (e.g., OCR and summarization)

  • Improve app performance and user experience

  • Respond to support requests or feedback

  • Send non-intrusive notifications (if enabled)

  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell or share your personal data for third-party marketing purposes.
 

3. Third-Party Services
 

ScanToKnow uses third-party tools to improve app performance and stability:

  • Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google LLC)

  • Google ML Kit or Cloud Vision (for OCR)

These services may collect anonymized usage and diagnostics data under their own privacy policies.
If advertising is enabled, we comply with Android 13+ by requesting the appropriate user permissions and declaring com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID.
 

4. User Controls
 

You can control your data in the following ways:

  • Choose what to scan or upload

  • Delete or clear saved scans manually

  • Disable notifications via device settings

  • Manage advertising preferences via Google Ad Settings
     

5. Children’s Privacy
 

ScanToKnow is not intended for children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent.
If we discover that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected without proper consent, we will delete it immediately.
 

6. Data Security
 

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information.
However, please note that no method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is completely secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in functionality, legal requirements, or user feedback.
