Welcome to ScanToKnow, a mobile application and website designed to help users scan and understand printed or digital text—such as labels, pages, and informational content—by generating summaries and explanations using artificial intelligence.

By accessing or using the ScanToKnow app or website, you agree to these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree with these Terms, please refrain from using our services.
 

1. Eligibility
 

To use ScanToKnow, you must be at least 13 years old. Users under 18 must have the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. For any use involving children under 13, verifiable parental consent is required, in accordance with applicable privacy regulations and Google Play’s Families Policy.
 

2. User Responsibilities
 

By using ScanToKnow, you agree to:

• Use the app only for lawful purposes.

• Not attempt to reverse engineer, tamper with, or exploit any part of the app or its features.

• Not upload, scan, or generate content that is illegal, offensive, harmful, or infringes on third-party rights.
   

3. Privacy and Data Use
 

Your use of the app is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.
We follow Google Play’s User Data and Families Policies. No personally identifiable information is collected or shared without user consent. Users may review and manage app permissions at any time.
 

4. Content and Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in the app, its design, features, text, and branding are owned by ScanToKnow or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or reuse content generated by or within the app without explicit permission.

• Scanned text and results are processed temporarily for user interaction and are not stored unless actively saved by the user.
   

5. Third-Party Services
 

The app may incorporate services from third parties such as Firebase for analytics, crash reporting, and optional advertising. These services comply with relevant data protection standards. Any use of device Advertising ID (AAID) is declared and limited to permitted use cases, with user control as required by Android 13+.
 

6. AI Content Disclaimer
 

ScanToKnow uses AI to provide summaries and explanations based on scanned text.
These outputs are informational only and not intended as professional advice (e.g., medical, legal, or nutritional). Users are advised to consult qualified professionals where necessary.
 

7. Updates and Modifications
 

We may update the app, its features, or these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated through in-app messages or by email, where applicable.
 

8. Termination
 

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the app, without prior notice, if these Terms are violated or if required by law.
 

9. Governing Law
 

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in your jurisdiction, excluding conflict of law principles.
